Gerald A. Butler was born on January 25, 1945, to Dolph and Marie Butler. The family home was located in Wheatley, Arkansas where Gerald received education through the local schools, graduating in 1963.

Gerald was blessed in life to become a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. On March 21, 1992, he married Sue Davenport. The ceremony took place at Maddox Bay. Gerald brought 2 daughters into the marriage and Sue brought 3 sons. They were blessed to share in many wonderful memories of seeing their family grow with the addition of spouses, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Gerald worked outside the home as a meat cutter at Kroger. He was also active as a member of the Brinkley Fire Department where he last held the position of Chief Engineer. After 42 years of dedicated service to his community and 42 years of dedicated service to Kroger he retired.

Gerald was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish(even commercial fishing). He also loved gardening and at one time he farmed.

Gerald knew the importance of his relationship with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He was raised in the Baptist faith and at one point taught Sunday School. In recent years he attended church as his health would allow him.

On June 25, 2023, Gerald at the age of 78, passed away peacefully at his home. He was preceded in death by his father, Dolph Butler, mother, Marie Gehring, stepfather, Charley Gehring, grandson, Jacob Ferrell, and stepson, Shannon Sandage.

Survivors include his Wife, Sue Butler of Brinkley, Daughters, Karen Butler (Brince) of Lonoke, Audra Ferrell of Sherwood, Stepsons, Dale Davenport (Angi) of Hensley and David Sandage (Paula) of Holub Crossing, Grandchildren, Jeff Miller (Asha), Clayton Ferrell (Jenna), Rebekah Prine (Mason), Derrick Davenport (Clarissa), Jake Ligon, Haley Sooter (Michael), Emily Stafford and Jarred Herron, Great Grandchildren, Jon Paul Miller, Cayvin Sooter, Riley Sooter, Waylon Sooter, Rodney Jackson, Xavier Woods, Amaya Boyd and Elliott Ferrell (Oct.2023), Sister, Sharon Monroe (Charles) of Richardson, TX
