George Allen McWhorter was born to Judy and Johnny McWhorter of Des Arc on November 29, 1936.  It is with great sadness we announce the passing of George at the Woodruff County Healthcare Facility on Saturday, February 3, 2024, after a fight with different illnesses over the past few years.  George was 87 years old.

During his life George attended Des Arc School system, served in the U.S. Army, and was employed with  Calhoun Construction and V.O. Calhoun Farms, for 40 plus years. He loved to work on the farm but occasionally would go dancing on Saturday night.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Judy and Johnny McWhorter of Des Arc, Arkansas, husband of fifty nine years to Catharine (Jenkins) McWhorter, and brother of the late Ola Mae (McWhorter) Cotton of Cabot.

Loving father of Donna Brock of Ward, Keith (Patsy) McWhorter of Hot Springs and Kevin (Rebecca) McWhorter of Ward and a grandfather and great grandfather to multiple wonderful and loving children, brother to Mary (McWhorter) Prior Hambrick of Des Arc, Pat (McWhorter) Cunningham of Des Arc and J.W. McWhorter of Hazen.
