Obituary

Edgar Lamar Harvey, 83, of Des Arc went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 11,  2021, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 6, 1938, in Des Arc, Arkansas to Edgar  Louis and Mary Lodean (Turnage) Harvey. He attended Des Arc Schools, graduating in 1956.

He married the love of his life, Patsy (Livesay) Harvey on August
10, 1958. They made their  home just north of Des Arc and it was there
that they raised their family.

In 1952, Louis, Lamar's father purchased the Magnolia gas station
and Lamar worked there  alongside his father, selling fuel and providing
repairs and maintenance on vehicles for the  citizens of Des Arc and the
surrounding community. Lamar became a full partner in the  business in
1956, after graduating from Des Arc High School. In the mid 1950's, Lamar and
his  dad began farming on 400 acres. They grew hay and soybeans while
still operating the  service station.

Lamar and his wife, Patsy, later acquired more land and
diversified their crops adding rice,  wheat, corn and milo. They were
Prairie County Farm Family of the Year in 2007. They also  purchased
cattle and made that a part of their operation. Lamar seemed to really
enjoy  working and tending to his cattle. The service station operation
changed through the years,  becoming a Mobil and then an Exxon Station,
which it remains today and moved from its old  location at 8
th and Main to 1905 Main in
1994. Lamar was actively involved in the day-to-day  operation of both the
service station and farming operation until his retirement in 2014.

Lamar and Patsy always enjoyed hosting a gathering on the 4 th of July at their home for
family  and friends with lots of good food and fellowship.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Des Arc.

Lamar and Patsy were blessed with three sons and one daughter; Don
(Tracy) Harvey, Ray  (Kristen) Harvey, Kevin (Sharon Robin) Harvey, all of
Des Arc, and LeAnne (Keith) Griffin, of  Beebe. They have eight grandchildren;
Peyton (Ashley) Harvey, Megan (Charles)Churchwell,  all of Searcy; Jordan
(Tony) Pavan of Little Rock; Katelyn (Kaleb) Lacy of Conway; Daley  (Adam)
Grinnis of New Orleans, LA; Emily Huddleston of Des Arc, and Keithlea and
Connor  Griffin of Beebe. They also have nine great grandchildren;
Kennedy, Hudson, Parker, Noah,  Elizabeth, Luke, Anna, Harleigh, and
Ross.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Patsy Harvey;
his parents, Louis and Lodean  Harvey; and two great-grandsons, Carter and
Grant Harvey. He is survived by one sister,  Frances Warren, of Memphis
and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, August 13, 2021, at Garth Funeral Home
in Des Arc from 6 to 8 PM.  A Celebration of Life will be held on
Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 11 AM at the First Baptist  Church in Des
Arc, Arkansas with Bro. Melvin York officiating. Burial will immediately
