Dovie Marcell Durham

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dovie Marcell Durham, on June 26th, in her beloved home in Marvell, Arkansas.

Born and raised in the close-knit community of Marvell, Marcell was the treasured daughter of Joe and Ethel Smith. She grew up surrounded by the values of family, hard work, and service to others, the principles that remained at the heart of her life.  Her kindness, quiet strength, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. 

Marcell was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Ethel Smith; her brother, Louis Smith; her sisters, Alma Rohrscheib and Bessie Emrick; and her stepson Perry Durham.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Russell Durham; her stepson, Rusty Durham and his wife, Cathy; her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren; her beloved niece, Jan Brewer and husband, David, of Hot Springs; along with many treasured great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Marcell found her greatest joy in her family and friends, bream fishing, discovering unique treasures at estate sales, and the simple pleasures of life. She had a warm heart, a welcoming smile, and a remarkable gift for making everyone she met feel valued, cared for, and never forgotten. 

As we remember Marcell, we celebrate a life defined by love, faith, and devotion to family and community. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of kindness, grace and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Marvell's memory, honoring the generosity and compassion she shared throughout her life.
