David Ray Wesley passed away Sunday morning, December 3, 2023 at his home in Lexa.

David was born on April 4, 1960 in South Carolina to Willie and Brenda (Shirey) Smith.  Eventually the family moved to Phillips County.  David continued his education in the HWH school system until he left his studies behind and focused on his working career.  Joining his sister, Belinda in her family business, David worked numerous positions within the Lumberjack Tree Service.  He was employed there for over 35 years until his declining health forced him into retirement.

When he wasn't climbing trees, David enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He especially liked catfishing.

It was through his sister that David met Margaret Jones.  He was instantly enchanted by her and after a year of dating, he asked her to marry him.  On June 7, 2004, David married Margaret and the happy couple enjoyed 19 years of wedded bliss before his death.

Besides Margaret, David leaves four daughters and two stepdaughters behind to cherish his memory.  He is also survived by several grandchildren; two brothers, George Smith (Patty) of Forrest City and Daniel Smith (Kim) of Michigan; and his sister, Belinda Buie of Lexa.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Brenda;  and three brothers, Willie S. "Bubba" Smith, Jr., Kenneth E. Smith and Jimmy T. Smith.

The family will announce a memorial service time and date later.
