Obituary

David Manning Henderson, 81, of Marvell, AR, died at his home on October 11, 2021, after an extended illness.  He began a career in banking with National Bank of Commerce in Memphis after spending two years in the U. S. Navy.  The lures of home and a five-generation family tradition of farming called him back to Philips County.

Mr. Henderson was a highly regarded, community minded and involved citizen of Phillips County.  He was graduate of Ole Miss where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity.  As a 55-year member of the Rotary Clubs of Marvell and Helena, he served as Helena's president for a term.  He was also a 60-year member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Helena where he served on the vestry and as junior warden multiple times.  He loved architecture and drew detailed plans for the construction of his own home in Marvell.

He is survived by his wife, Grace Henderson; sister Pamela Mynatt (Larry) of Springdale; sons Edwin Henderson (Sheri) of Arlington VA, Matthew Henderson (Joan) of Cumming, GA; and daughter Amy Batson (Scott) of Jonesboro, AR; and seven beloved grandchildren: Sarah Wilder, Stephen Henderson, Will Batson, Drew Batson, Brooks Batson, Madeline Henderson and Hannah Henderson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, W.A. Henderson, Jr., and Edwina Henderson.

A memorial service for Mr. Henderson will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m., at John's Episcopal Church in Helena.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. John's Episcopal Church chairlift fund.
