Obituary

Clyde Eugene "Gene" McIntosh, 79, of Sherwood, Arkansas, was born February 12, 1943, in Frys Mill, Poinsett County, Arkansas, and passed away at home on October 2, 2022. Gene is survived by his wife of 57 years, Melba Mummel McIntosh, his daughters, Stephanie Thompson (Tom) and Jerri McIntosh, both of Sherwood, Arkansas, his grandsons, Chandler Thompson (Kailey), of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Clay Thompson (fiancé Erin Gateley), both of Sherwood, Arkansas, and Graeson Tracy, of Forrest City, Arkansas. Gene is also survived by two sisters, Laverne Guy (Richard), of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Linda Roberts, of Cascilla, Mississippi, and a wonderful group of loved ones; sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Thomas & Winnie Marie (Harp) McIntosh, and his siblings Charles Wayne "Chuck" McIntosh, Roy Junior McIntosh, Betty Sue (McIntosh) Mangrum, and James Robert "Bob" McIntosh.

Gene served in the US Army Reserves and the US Army. His career was spent in the insurance field where he retired after 35 years with Reliable Life Insurance Company. He was an excellent recruiter and manager and introduced many to a successful career in insurance.

He was a member of Pinnacle Faith Church of God of Prophecy, North Little Rock, Arkansas. Gene was active in the local, state, and regional levels of the church where he served as a Deacon, Camping Ministry Caretaker, Men's Ministry Director, and Regional Finance Board until he was unable to serve due to illness of FTD (frontotemporal dementia).

Gene loved his girls more than anything, until his grandsons came along, then the girls took the back burner, and "those boys" became the joy of his life. He loved hunting and fishing, especially crappie fishing. He was a mentor to many by taking them hunting and fishing and schooling them on the best fishing spots at Old Town Lake and all around Phillips County, but also by teaching them about life, hard work, and always doing their best no matter what.

Gene will best be remembered for his quick wit, joking demeanor, and the fact that he "just wanted to be a blessing" to everyone. He was kind to everyone he met and was always willing to help others to succeed and reach their full potential in life.

Gene's last prayer was, "Jesus, I ask you to heal my body if it is Your will, but if it's not Your will, I will still serve You all the days of my life." His passing leaves a void in this world, but his Christian legacy has been passed down and will continue to echo for generations.
