Charles Dewayne Walters was born on May 28, 1939. Like many at the time he was born at home and one of three sons to the late William and Margaret Walters. The family home was located in Hunter, Arkansas where Charles remained a lifetime resident. He received formal education in the nearby community of Brinkley, becoming a 1957 graduate of BHS.

He was employed for a time working with his uncle helping with dry wall installation. After stepping away from the working world, Charles enjoyed a simple life. He enjoyed country music, especially Ernest Tubbs and George Jones and was known as an excellent dancer who loved to jitter bug. He liked rides in the country watching the farmers work and seeing how much the crops had grown.

Although Charles never married or had children of his own, he loved attending the  family reunions to visit with his extended family members and friends.

Charles was raised in the Christian faith and knew the importance of a relationship with his Saviour, Jesus Christ. During his childhood he attended times of worship with his family at the local Methodist Church. Charles remained a lifetime member of the church attending whenever possible. He always enjoyed the yearly Christmas card that was sent out for a time, even after the church closed.

On March 21, 2022, Charles at the age of 82, passed away at Woodruff County Nursing Home and Rehab Center. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret (Rice) Walters and two brothers, Billy Joe and Arthur Walters. He is survived by his childhood friend and caregiver Darrell Thompson and a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at the Hunter Cemetery on Friday, March 25 at 2:00P.M.
