Obituary

Captain Larry Edward Plumlee passed away at the age of 81 on June 8, 2026. He was born on September 11, 1944 to Harvey and Ludean Plumlee.

Larry graduated from Clarendon High School in 1963 and went on to attend Henderson State University. His professional life was defined by his work on the riverboat, where he was Captain for 41 years before retiring. Larry lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his career as a riverboat captain, and his many passions.

On April 9, 1976, Larry married the love of his life, Melinda Plumlee. Together they built a life filled with love and shared memories for nearly 50 years until her passing, January 5, 2026.

Larry had a lifelong passion for duck hunting and cherished time spent on his farm. In his younger years, he participated in racing and remained an avid NASCAR fan throughout his life.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Ludean Plumlee and his sister, Barbara Ellen Plumlee Ortiz. He is survived by his son Larry (Meagan) Plumlee of Clarendon; his daughter Lucinda Ruth Plumlee of Little Rock; and three beloved grandchildren, Sophia LeAnne Plumlee, Dawson Godfrey, and Beatrice Grace Gillen.
