Candace Gale Howton began her life's journey, Wednesday, November 23, 1977, at Stuttgart, Arkansas. The youngest daughter of Jerry Eugene Howton and the late Cheryl Yvonne Gwathney Howton, Candace grew up in the rural farming area of Palestine with her brother, Daniel and older sister, Angie.

She received her elementary education at Wheatley and was a 1996 graduate of Brinkley High School. She continued her education at EACC where she received her nursing degree.  Her first job was working at the Crestpark Nursing Home in Wynne, and for the past seven years she worked as a home health nurse for Elite Home Health of Forrest City.

On Saturday, September 20, 1997, Candace married the love of her life, Raymond Westbrook. Ray and Candace met soon after she graduated from high school. After dating for a number of months, Ray ask Candace to become his wife. They just celebrated their 25th anniversary. This marriage was blessed with the birth of one son, Raymond Lane.

Candace was a loving daughter, sister, wife, and mother who loved caring for her family. She felt like her greatest accomplishment was her son and she looked forward to watching him play ball on Friday nights. She was an avid member of the Palestine-Wheatley High School Booster Club. Among her other interest she found pleasure working in her flower beds, feeding her chickens and going fishing.

A no nonsense, straight forward person, Candace was a very private person. She was very dedicated to the care of her patients who would become like family to her and in turn the all loved her. She will be deeply missed by her family and her patients.

On Thursday morning, September 29, 2022, at her home in Palestine and surrounded by her loving family, Candace slipped from her earthly body into eternity. She was preceded in death by her mom, Yvonne Howton; one nephew and one sister-in-law.
