Hot Springs
Betty June (Hedrick) Harris embarked on her final journey on Monday, April 17, 2023 surrounded by love from her home. She was born July 21, 1937 to Dale and Margaret (Hill) Hedrick in Anderson, Indiana.
In 1948, her family moved to Tucson, Arizona where she would graduate from Amphitheater High School, and meet her lifelong friend Marjorie Harris (Kagels) and her lifelong love, J. Calvin Harris. Betty and Calvin were married on June 10, 1955 and remained so for 67 years, 10 months, and 8 days. They were separated only by death.
In 1960, they moved to San Antonio, TX while Calvin attended Texas Chiropractic College. In 1966, they moved to Brinkley, AR to open a chiropractic practice which they would run for 32 years. After 10 years back in Tucson, AZ, they relocated to Hot Springs, AR. Betty was a very active member of her church. She loved to host parties, especially at Christmas, and many other acts of service.
She and her family, fostered 74 children over 21 years. Betty was a voracious reader and retained much of what she read. Her memory for dates and details was astounding throughout her life. She also loved to travel. She visited every continent, every US National Park and every Arkansas State Park. Her final journey is to explore the undiscovered country that lies just beyond the horizon. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jane Anderson, her sister Carolyn Stoneking, and a grandson, Glen Patrick Harris.
She is survived by her loving husband Dr. J. Calvin Harris; her children Athena Evans (David), Perry Harris, Dale Harris, Paul Harris (Helen). She is survived by 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by Majorie Kagels of Rugby, TN, her brother Richard Hedrick of Pheonix, AZ, and many, many nieces, nephews, friends and foster children all of whom she loved dearly.
