Obituary

Betty Mae (Hartzog) Brill, age 86, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior May 3 rd , 2022.  Betty was born March 25 th ,1936 in McClellan, Arkansas to James A. and Hazel M. Hartzog.

Born and raised in Hickory Plains, Betty's family moved to Ohio in 1953, where she lived for 56 years until returning to Arkansas in 2004.  While in Ohio, Betty was a cake decorator until she started working as a bus driver. She drove school bus for Elyria City Schools for 31 years.  She met the love of her life, Dennis Brill in 1968 and never looked back.  Married in 1972, they raised Betty's four girls, farmed, and in their spare time, they loved to travel, hike, camp, and canoe.  Together they farmed, gardened, and enjoyed canning.

Betty attended Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church where she was a very active member.  She served in AWANA for over ten years.  She loved to read any type of books, especially Christian novels and pioneer living. She shared her love of reading by reciting poetry at church and Grand Prairie Youth rallies. Her favorite Bible verse Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all they ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. She loved her pastor and church family so very much.  Betty also enjoyed journaling all her thoughts and experiences.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Dennis, daughter Mitzi Markel, sister Frances Montgomery, son David Brill, her parents James and Hazel Hartzog, and her infant son "Bubbie."  Left to mourn her presence are daughters Delise Markel-York (Ed), Betty Lynn Markel, and Kimberly Boyer, all of Des Arc., daughter-in-law Brenda Brill (David) of LaGrange, Ohio, David Boyer of Waldron, Arkansas and her favorite niece Pat Hester of Jonesboro, Arkansas.  Grandchildren Aaron Pyle of Akron, Ohio, Lyndle Seaman (Jen) of Wray, Colorado, Erin Seaman of Warrenville, Illinois, Wesley Boyer (Lexi) of Akron, Ohio, Maeve Clites (James) of Des Arc, Arkansas, and Becky McDowell (Kevin) of Amherst, Ohio, five great grandchildren, Lillyana, Ashtyn and London Boyer, Silas Seaman and Lucy Clites with two on the way and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
