Andrea Katheryn Hartley was born on August 19, 1951, to Andrew and Katheryn Stanley. The family made their home in Brinkley at the time of her birth, where Andrea became a 1969 graduate of Brinkley High School. She was active in school as a member of FHA, the Science Club, National Honor Society, attended Girls State and in her senior year served as class President. With a desire to continue her education she attended Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia for four years earning her bachelor's degree.
While attending college she met a fellow student, John Charles Hartley a native of Pine Bluff. After a time of friendship, they married in 1973. On July 23, 1983, their son Jonathan was born.
She became simply known as Andy Kay by all who knew and loved her. Andy Kays family were well known farmers in the local area. Growing up in the agriculture community, Andy Kay was introduced to many aspects of farming from planting to the final harvest. In time after the passing of her parents she became the owner of the family farms and continued in the business for many years.
Andy Kay was of the Methodist faith and during times of worship attended the First United Methodist Church in Brinkley. After many years of health challenges Andy Kay passed away on April 11, 2023, at the age of 71. She will be missed by a host of community friends. Andy Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Stanley and Katheryn Witherspoon Stanley, husband John Hartley and son Jonathan Hartley.
The visitation will be on Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Bob Neal and Sons Funeral Home in Brinkley. Graveside services will be Friday at Greenwood Cemetery located in Rison.
